THE SHADOW BROTHERS, A.E. Cannon. New York : Delacorte Press, 1990. (Grades 6-10) A well-done novel of a Navajo teen as told by his adoptive (non-Indian) brother. Henry Yazzie has been sent to live with his father's white friend's family so that he can attend good schools. An excellent student and athlete, the arrival of a second Native boy to the school has Henry questioning his identity as a Navajo. Deals with issues many Indian kids face as novelties in their schools. Reviewed by Lisa Mitten and Naomi Caldwell-Wood
