BLACK ELK: A MAN WITH A VISION, Carol Greene. Chicago :Children's Press, 1990. (Grades 3-5) Although consistent with the material in Black Elk Speaks, this retelling of Black Elk's vision is so oversimplified that it sounds ridiculous and muddled. The illustrations, mostly period artwork, are poorly chosen and often have nothing to do with the text. Reviewed by Lisa Mitten and Naomi Caldwell-Wood File: ch45
